Menya Musashi

This is the first time we patronize this restaurant. We happened to spot this Japanese ramen restaurant while we were shopping at raffles city. It's tuck at a corner of the shopping mall, next to the other entrance of Raffles City where there is a taxi stand. It is located opposite Raoul.

The ramen comes in "white", "black" and "red" soup based. They have another branch at Ion which replaces the back then Aoba. There are not much variety of side dishes to choose from and to me this is a minus point. I'm quite sucker for side dishes and I would prefer that they come out with more varieties of starters.

Gyoza

We love Japanese gyoza and because this seems to be the only side dish that attracts us, we ordered them. It comes with 5 gyozas for a plate. The skin of the gyozas are thin enough, but its rather normal. Nothing special about it. Since it only costs $5.90, its still quite worthwhile to order them.

Black Kakuni Ramen

I ordered the black Kakuni ramen which is also the pork belly ramen. The taste of the pork belly was good. However it is a little hard and I don't quite agree to some of the comment made online that stated the meat was so soft that it melts in the mouth. The meat is rather thick. It cost $14.90.

Black Cha Shu Ramen

B had the Black Cha Shu Ramen which is cooked in the same kind of broth as mine. The black broth is thick with collagen. Both ramen comes with some vegetables, black fungus, a piece of seaweed and also half of an hard boiled egg. The portion of the noodles are enough to fill up an empty stomach, probably because the soup was thick as well. The Cha Shu ramen is slightly cheaper at only $12.90.

Our dinner cost $42.02.
