Old Hong Kong at Raffles City

When I got back from my Italy trip, i was having serious craving for some Chinese food. When I was in Italy, I did not get to eat any Asian food for 2 weeks consecutively .That almost kill me! We didn't make special plans to have dinner at Old Hong Kong. But since we were at Raffles City running some errands, we decide to have our dinner there.

We ordered half a Peking duck. It comes with 3 different kind of sauce, sesame, goose liver and sweet sauce. We prefer both the goose liver and sweet sauce, but not so much for the sesame sauce. It doesn't go too well with the Peking duck skin.

There are 3 different ways that you can choose from for the 2nd cook of the duck's meat.

1. Ee fu noodles with duck meat
2. Minced duck meat wrap with fresh lettuce
3. Duck meat wrap and steam with beancurd skin

As shown above, we have chosen the 3rd way of handling the remaining duck meat and I kind of like since it is not fried and oily.

The last dish was rice in lobster broth. The portion was rather small with a few small pieces of lobster meat. If you have tasted lobster bisque before, that's how it taste like.

B wasn't feeling too well and after a few sips of tea, she was coughing really badly. There were 2 staffs standing right beside us as one of them were slicing the skin of the Peking duck and the other one were helping to place it on the plate. I requested them for a glass of warm water and they told me ok, will get it later. But B was coughing so badly that she was about to puke! So i stood up and ask the staff at the counter for the water. It took quite awhile to come even though they know we kinda need it "urgently". The 2 staffs beside us can definitely tell how badly B needed a glass of water. But they ignore and continue slicing the Peking duck. At least the lady who was helping out could get the water if the one slicing can't stop immediately. For this, I gave them a 2.5 rating for their service. Seriously, i'm quite a sucker for service. And i totally believe that a customer will return not only because of the food but for the service received too.

Total cost of the meal was about $85.
