House @ Dempsey

If you have frequent Dempsey, this shouldn't be a difficult place to locate. However if you do not visit Dempsey often, you may not be able to find the place easily because it is not located together with the rest of the better known hang out places such as Ben and Jerry or even The Prime Society. You have to walk down a staircase before seeing the place.

It is really spacious. So you won't find the next table sitting just an arm length away from you. This does give you some privacy and personal space which I personally value.

The fries is a MUST ORDER here. It comes in many different flavors. So if you come in a big group, it is good to order different flavors to try.

Truffle Fries

I came with 2 others, so we wouldn't have extra spaces in our stomachs to occupy too much carbo. Thus we ordered our favorite truffle fries instead. It's pretty good.

Celeriac Soup

I didn't know what celeriac is and so I googled it. It is also called the rooted turnip celery. It looks a bit like turnip too. But anyway it is a form of root vegetable. There is a seared scallop in the soup and it is topped with some bacon bits which give it a tint of saltiness.

Smoked Turkey Pizza

My friend recommended this pizza and indeed, this is the first time that I am eating pizza with blueberries. Among all the berries, blueberries are my favorite.  The pizza is really thin, which is a good thing to me. The crust is extremely crispy as well. So there isn't too much flour and it wouldn't occupy too much stomach space. I was quite skeptical about how it will taste. I mean imagine ham with strawberries on a pizza??? Surprisingly, it tasted pretty good. As the smoked turkey ham is salty, the blueberries neutralized it with their sweetness. So it's like a sweet and salted taste, just like salted caramel. Of course the berries are not as sweet as caramel does.

Price: $27

Roasted Chilean Cod Fish

The cod fish is roasted accompanied with some sweet date sauce. It comes with a seared Chorizo. I'm not a fan of cod fish but tried a small mouth of the fish. The texture is good but I didn't like the fish oil taste and feeling. However according to B, who loves cod fish, this is quite delicious.

Price: $29

Jamaican Jerk Pork Tenderloin

I was expecting a big piece of pork tenderloin to be served but was surprised to see the layout of this dish. The pork tenderloin is served in 4 small slices but of a reasonable thickness. Added with some white fruity chutney. Grilled vegetables and garlic potatoes served  by the side. I would prefer a salty sauce instead of a fruity one for this dish. And the pork are not exactly tender. It's actually kind of tough.
