Strangers Reunion

There was so much hype about this place and even after so long there are still constant recommendations to Strangers Reunion. And here I am to check out what was all the hype about.

When we reach, the place was rather packed but we were lucky to get a seat very quickly. Guess we were there earlier than the lunch crowd. When we left there was a long queue outside the cafe.

Simple menu, typical breakfast, bites, desserts and coffee. There were quite a number of Caucasians around, much more than the other cafes that I have been to. So I was thinking if this place suits their taste more.

 Magic and Flat white

The flat white is pretty ok. Not the best but it is ok for me. The one that is darker in colour is Magic. It is on the menu that this is said to be a magical ratio of coffee and milk and they are the first to bring it in to Singapore. It is too bitter for me.

Price: $4.90(Flat White), $5.50 (Magic)

Eggs on Toast with Honey Baked Ham

I've chosen Focaccia for my toast and scrambled eggs.Added Honey Baked Ham to complete my breakfast. Basically I feel that the scrambled eggs are not runny enough. It can't be compare to the one from DOC. The colour is lighter and it doesn't goes well with the tomato relish.

Price: $10.50 + $4.50 (3 slices of honey baked ham)

Buttermilk Waffles with Homemade Berry Compote wit Ice Cream

I will prefer the butter taste of the waffle to be stronger and the berry compote to be sweeter. The berries are a tad too sour for my liking especially when this is served as breakfast.

Price: $14.90

This is really different from my expectation of this place. However the number of people queing outside when I left and the full house cafe tells me that people do like the food/drinks here. I suppose we just share a different taste. Not so much for me especially when the price is not exactly cheap.

The Tiramisu Hero

The first thing that you get amazed by this place is the layout and the doodling on the wall. You see white ladders sticked on the ceiling and the white walls make the place look bigger, cleaner and brighter.

Seriously, even the toilet! It makes me wanna stay in the toilet forever. It is so clean and when you look up, there are so many colourful poms poms hanging from the ceiling.

Baked Chessy Chicken

The boneless chicken leg is baked with cheese, served with mushrooms, greens and some biscuits.

Price: $17

Bangers with Mashed Potatoes

I do like the mashed potatoes as it is not too mashy and I can tasted some small chunks of potatoes. The taste of the potatoes are strong and it is thick too. The sausages are a little dry though.

Price: $15

Tiramisu

We ordered 2 MommaHero. One is chocolate and the other is Horlicks. Both taste just as good. I have tried the Milo flavor one before and I like that even more.

Overall, I would say that I only enjoyed the Tiramisu. The food was so so. And I guess for the same price, I can get much tastier food. I would really love to see improved version of food served here as I really like the layout of the cafe.

Streets of London @ British Hainan

A friend of mine opened this restaurant located at Carpmael Road. It is a joint venture between my friend's family and the Chef from Streets of London Bukit Merah.

It is a place where not only you can enjoy great British inspired food, you may also be blown away by the wide variety of the antiques that they display in the restaurant. By the way, if you can buy them home too.

I am not a fan of antique seriously. However it is really interesting to walk around the restaurant and start looking at each piece of item that probably existed few decades ago.

Remember this public telephone? You can't really find them around now.

IPA chicken

A well marinated boneless chicken leg cooked till tender. It is served with mashed potatoes and vegetables.

Price: $12.90

SOL Sambal Wings

It comes in 6 pieces for 1 serving. Well marinated, a little spicy but adds on a great taste to  it.

Price: $8

Clams with White Wine Sauce

So you can choose if you want fries or bread as the side. I've ordered half a kg and was really lucky as that was the last portion they have for the night. The half kg is good for one and pretty filling with the fries that I have ordered. Will like it more if it is a little saltier.

Price: $15 for 1/2 kg

Brownie

The brownie is off menu. Thus you have to request for it. It's specially made by the assistant chef and it's delicious!

There is no GST and service charge, so whatever you see on the menu is whatever that you are going to pay. Very reasonable price and decent food! Do drop by to give them your support!
